MiG-29 OVT and MiG-35

February 22nd, 2012

The Mikoyan MiG-35 (Russian: ?????? ???-35, NATO reporting name “Fulcrum-F”) is a further development of the MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-29K/KUB technology. Classified as a 4.5 generation fighter aircraft, the only existing prototype is the third modification of the existing MiG-29M2 airframe which previously served as MiG-29M2 model demonstrator. The MiG-35 is now classed as a medium-weight aircraft because its maximum take-off weight has increased by 30 percent which exceeds its previous criteria of classification. The MiG-35 was officially unveiled when the Russian Minister of Defence, Sergey Ivanov, visited Lukhovitsky Machine Building Plant “MAPO-MIG”.[2] Its vastly improved avionics and weapon systems, notably the new AESA radar and the uniquely designed Optical Locator System (OLS), relieves the aircraft from relying on ground-controlled interception (GCI) systems and enables it to conduct independent multi-role missions. The aircraft is being marketed under the designation MiG-35 (single seat) and MiG-35D (dual-seat) for export. MiG Corporation had their first official international MiG-35 presentation during Aero India 2007.

    @Zbyszkoz Not true. Even India said the US has better weapons and systems. The Pak-Fa’s stealth cannot ever get a lower RCS than the F-22 unless its shape dramatically changes, which isn’t going to happen. Russian officials have even said that increased stealth comes at too great of a cost. Fact is that the PAk-Fa will be less stealthy than the F-22; it’s avionics will be inferior, and it will be less powerful.?

  2. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter only PAK FA has 6th? generation avionic end missile. about PAK stealth, wait for next 2 years .

  3. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter? ability? of either the F-22 ….ability? the F-22 = ZERO. F-35 has meany problems.

  4. TheTequilaShooter says:

    Continued… the ability of either the F-22 or 35; and now, it’s doubtful that it will be able to supercruise, all of which are? requirements to be a 5th gernation fighter.

  5. TheTequilaShooter says:

    @Zbyszkoz Here are some FCTS: Russian officails have stated that the Pak-Fa does? not meet the defintion of a 5th generation fighter right now due to two reasons: 1. It’s not stealthy enough; and 2. It’s avionics are not up to such standard. Plus, you add in that Russia is having difficulty building its specified engines, and there’s is doubt that they may never be built to the desired specifications. So, the ariplae is not nearly as stealthy as a F-22 or 35, its avionics are no where

  6. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter US start F-22 production after 50% test !!!! the same happen to US with AESA . TEST MUST BE COMPLETED 100% .M U S T !!!!!!!, that’s way Germany don’t start production? own AESA.

  7. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter Germany confirm about AESA ,West need? more time finish 100% AESA.

  8. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter Russia AESA? was not completely developed…..end NATO whit USA? !!!!!!!

  9. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter PAK? FA weelbe first on the world 100% 5th gen stealth fighter

  10. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter F-22.To? date Russia does not have any fighters in service with AESA:
    1)USA has not 100% stealth planes ..
    2)USA has ZERO effective A/A missile.
    3)Russia have 100 % bather A/A missile.
    Vympel? R-77 160 km Mach 4.5 , R-27RE -130km Mach 4.5 , R-37 150–398 km, Mach-6, R-33 120km Mach-4.5,

  11. TheTequilaShooter says:

    @Zbyszkoz Sorry, that’s not the case. Russia offered the Mig-35 with AESA, but the AESA was not completely developed. US was the only nation to offer AESA that was fully functional, and it was not the best AESA radar in the US’s service, which is in the F-22.To date Russia does not have any fighters in service with AESA, which is the? radar of the future.

  12. Zbyszkoz says:

    @TheTequilaShooter? primary MIG-35 radar end avionic is not for export , primary weapon lake air to air missile. 5th Gen R-73E2 is not for export. Western country offer to India the best edition AESA radar I think . this is a big mistake. do not trust any one

  13. TheTequilaShooter says:

    @AwesomeBeyond BS. Even the Indians said the US radar is better. The US has been using AESA in its fighters for? many years now while Russia has not put into into one fighter.

  14. TheTequilaShooter says:

    @Zbyszkoz Not even. Google, “For Heaven’s Sake don’t buy the Russian Mig-35″ to see why? India wasn’t interested in it. Then you add the fact that i has zero export sales and is not even in the Russian AF. This plane will gone down in history as a failure.

  15. Zbyszkoz says:

    MIG-35? is now # 1 plane on the world

  16. Zbyszkoz says:

    @boffinboy100
    new engine- NPO Saturn ‘Article 117S’ for Su-35-1 &? PAK-FA

  17. Zbyszkoz says:

    @boffinboy100 Major applications Mikoyan MiG-2, Mikoyan MiG-35,? JF-17 Thunder

  18. sukhoi235 says:

    @boffinboy100
    RD-33 is used only by MiGs. Sukhoi uses also TVC engines AL-31FP, AL-31FM1 and new AL-41F for Su-35 and PAK-FA. FP version is used on Su-30, FM1 on Su-30, Su-27SM and? Su-34.

  19. boffinboy100 says:

    @Zbyszkoz
    Is that just for MiG, or do other aircraft companies use it? Does Sukhoi? (Which? TVC engine is Sukhoi using?)

  20. Zbyszkoz says:

    @boffinboy100 RD-33MK engines This is the world’s only thrust vectoring engine that has the ability to rotate in all directions.?

  21. Antifaith29 says:

    @AwesomeBeyond Cool. I’m not trying to start an argument over wich is better, im actualy a huge fan of russian aircraft. Im just explaining that the pilot doesnt really have to hit anything. Know what? i mean?

  22. AwesomeBeyond says:

    @Antifaith29 The Irbis-E radar can track 30, and lock and fire at 9 simultaneously within 120° forward, also capable of locking and firing upon? 4 ground targets. Thats a tad bit better than an american radar ;)

  23. Antifaith29 says:

    @AwesomeBeyond Infact, an american pilots targeting system can track 30? of these and lock onto 6 of them at the same time.

  24. Antifaith29 says:

    @AwesomeBeyond Nope, the pilot doesnt need to hit it, his targeting system does. And it can, easily. from beond? visual range. He wouldnt even have to see his kills.
